BREATH

I had so much fun introducing my new bowls last Thursday night at the Carnegie Art Center! It is going to take more time & effort to figure out the most efficient way to pack them! Thirteen bowls are quite a few, to say the least, but they fit on my table & are totally, amazingly incredible!

I now have a full scale set, with an absolutely perfect (!) octave as well as five sharps! In our 'Bowl World', the five sharps are an Endocrine Set! I have much to learn on so many levels & am looking forward to more lovely vibes!

When I played the full octave on Zoom for Terry, she was blown away at how nice they 'play together' with soft, beautiful binaurals!

If you are in the Mankato MN area, I hope you can join us this Thursday, February 20th at the Carnegie Art Center to immerse yourself in the ethereal, soothing harmonies & experience total relaxation!

P.S. I have to say a big, huge Thank You to Terry Eldh of SoulOSoaring, without whom I would not be doing what I am doing. Period. Terry was my mentor in The Sound Healers Academy & without her incredible support, I would not have all of my beautiful, ethereal, one of a kind Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls nor would I be doing the sessions I am doing at the Carnegie!

The Academy was totally online & while I knew the word 'link', that was it. It was frightening being on my MacBook, so afraid I would hit the wrong key which would make everything disappear into the ethers. Many tears. Terry spent so much time with me on Zoom & with her time, incredible patience, I made it through & graduated!! 'Grateful' is a total understatement.

I share this for two reasons: a HUGE THANK YOU to Terry for EVERYTHING! And, a gentle reminder that we really need to & want to help each as much as we can, ... there is always much good to do & love to share. I have a wonderful role model in Terry❣️ I am blessed❣️

I am going to take this opportunity to share a quote of Paul Wellstone's that Jon really likes & is sharing alot: "We all do better when we all do better."

KITCHEN

Wellspring Kitchen is the spot for all things related to nourishing ourselves & our loved ones, whether it is preparing food, gardening, herbs, body care …. It will all be in this space! I welcome positive feedback & ideas! I also love to research & try new things, so if there is anything in the plant-based vegan world you would like to learn about, please reach out!

Jon's Loaded Oatmeal

Jon cooks his, rather loaded, oatmeal in our small Instant-pot, but I wanted my own 'recipe' & then I came across the perfect one on the back of a Navitas Organics Chia bag! I adapted it a bit & love it! It is super simple & the jar hangs out with my Loaded Fruit, so they're a one-stop in the frig!

Overnight Chia Oats

Serves one (for several days!).

3/4 cup organic rolled oats

1-1/2 tbsp Chia Seeds

3/4 cup plant-based milk of choice

1 tbsp pure maple syrup

Add oats, Chia Seeds, milk, maple syrup and any additional ingredients of choice to a jar. Mix thoroughly, making sure the oats and chia are completely submerged in milk. Seal the jar & refrigerate overnight. Enjoy!

So far, I've added Gogi berries and my Coconut Sugar & Cinnamin mix!

Other possible mix-ins include: dried fruit, fresh berries, nut butter (we use sunflower seed), Cacao Nibs/powder, cinnamon.

This recipe lasts several days for me as it is an addition to my Loaded Fruit Salad. I am amazed and grateful I have finally actually figured out a super healthy, filling and delicious breakfast for myself! Apparently, it really is never too late!!!

WOOLENS

This is our beloved Djorn back in the day! He was born in 2009 & is our oldest of the five that are still 'on the ground'! The last of Ivan's lambs. Djorn is a really good guy! It has been such an honor to have them here! A lot of work, Jon would correctly say, but it has been wonderful to share our lives with them!

As an 'aspiring fiber artist', everything I do starts with them! They are my inspiration & their wool is my major medium! I started out as a knitter, but as I had my own wool, I figured I needed to learn how to spin! Which led to four spinning wheels & two drum carders! My own mini-mini spinning mill! I crochet, dye, felt, knit, spin, stitch, weave all with their wool! I even do a bit of Nalbinding, an ancient technique that predates knitting! I am getting ready to get back into knitting, as I'm beginning to realize how much I miss it! I'm going to knit more socks! Two at a time toe up!! Fit as you go, fun to do on two circular needles & when you're done you're done! No troublesome second sock to knit while trying to match the first! It's been awhile since I've knit socks! I'll keep you updated!!

Everything starts with the flock & their wool!

Kool-Aid roaster dyepot! I love dyeing our wool with Kool-Aid! Especially in the roaster with all the colors! It is so fun to see show they 'blend' on the 'edges'! And, how they spin up! Total 'free form' yarn!

'Freshly' dyed wool! Some carded & some waiting to be carded! So much fun!!! And, so many beautiful possibilities 'on the table'!

SHAMELESS PLUGS

This is not so much a Shameless Plug as a ...

Thank you, thank you to Heidi Wynn of Curiosi-Tea House which will be closing the end of this month. I, as well as many I know, am sad that we will no longer have this charming, lovely sanctuary to frequent. Saying that, the fact that we had Curiosi-Tea as long as we did is cause for much gratefulness!!

Heidi is a wonderful, smart, savvy business woman with a hugh heart who will be greatly missed. She held lots of special events inviting others to either share their wares or special vocations! As you can see in the pic, Heidi included me as well! I loved playing at Curiosi-Tea & am very grateful to be invited! I will miss 'hanging out' inside with Shy of Shy's Vegan Baked Goodies & meeting wonderful new friends! * Hi, James & Nathan!! *

Heidi proved that the Mankato area wants, needs & can support a pure plant-based establishment serving good, clean, vegan food. There were always many excellent, delicious choices! Nothing fried, no grease in the air ... It was an oasis for many of us & will be sorely missed.

Heidi, you will be greatly missed!! It was so nice sharing the same language! I know many others join me in wishing you & Joel fun times, happy adventures! Wishing Emma, Lydia & all of your staff all my best & hope to see you in the future!

It looks like Jon & I will get to know the road to Winona!! Best, best to you with much xoxox!!!

(okay, now I'm crying)

WORDS TO PONDER

“Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear or feel it when it comes to us. Let's not be afraid to receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy. It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity." - Henry Nouwen

Thank you so much for being part of this journey.

Whether you’re joining us for meditation, exploring plant-based recipes, or curious about the woolen art inspired by our flock, I’m so glad we get to share these moments together.

I’d love to hear from you—feel free to reply with questions, ideas, or just to say hello. And if you haven’t already, follow along on Facebook or Instagram for even more updates.

Until next time,
Warmly,
Melinda Kjarum
